Anderlecht head coach René Peter, winner of the K League International Youth Cup Incheon 2023, singled out Incheon United as his toughest opponent.
Anderlecht won the title with a 1-0 victory over Tokyo Verdi in the final of the K League International Youth Cup Incheon 2023 at the Incheon Football Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 9. Anderlecht broke the deadlock in the 30th minute when Adrien Tillano finished off an Aboubakar Conte cross with a precise header.
Anderlecht were drawn in a group with Valencia, Pohang Steelers, Incheon United, Jeonbuk Hyundai and Chonburi FC. With three wins and two draws in their five group games, they topped Group A and advanced to the final, where they won the trophy.
Anderlecht coach Petter said Incheon United was the most challenging team in the tournament. “We played a total of six teams in this tournament, including our final opponent Tokyo Verdi,” he said in the post-match press conference, “but Incheon United was the one that impressed me the most. We played them in our last group game on the way to the final. It was a must-win game for us because we were in a tight race with Valencia, and we ended up drawing 0-0,” he says, 온라인바카라 adding that Incheon United was the most challenging team.
“To be honest, we gave everything we had yesterday to win against Incheon United, but it didn’t happen. It was really hard to win,” he said, before adding, “That’s why I remember them as the most impressive team. Not only Incheon, but the Pohang Steelers, Jeonbuk Hyundai, and other K League Youth teams we played against were very good. It was an opportunity to learn about Korean teams through this tournament,” he said, adding that he was impressed with Incheon United and other Korean teams.
Anderlecht, who became the champions of the K League International Youth Cup, will experience Korean culture on the 10th, including a hanbok experience at Gyeongbokgung Palace and a tour of Lotte Tower, before departing for the Netherlands on the 11th. Four other European teams, including Real Sociedad, Valencia, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, will also participate in the Korean cultural experience program.
