Ulsan to face Pathum for the first time in two years… The ACL Journey Begins

Ulsan Hyundai begins its journey in Asia.

Ulsan will kick off the 2023/2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) Group I first leg against BG Pathum United (Thailand) at Munsu Soccer Stadium on Nov. 19.

Ulsan are drawn in a group with Patum, Kawasaki Frontale (Japan) and Johor Bahru (Malaysia) in the ACL, which moved to the Autumn Festival this season.

Ulsan, a two-time champion (2012, 2020), will set sail to regain the top spot after a four-year absence since 2020.

Ulsan is currently leading the K League 1 standings. They drew 1-1 with the Daejeon Hana Citizens in Round 30, which resumed after the A-Match break on April 16.

Players who were called up to the national team during the A-Match (Cho Hyun-woo, Jung Seung-hyun, Lee Dong-kyung, and Martin Adam) were rested. Only core defender Kim Young-kwon came on for Kim Ki-hee in the 25th minute to add stability at the back. 온라인바카라

The team made a lot of changes to the lineup as Kim will have to combine the league with his ACL. Goalkeeper Cho Soo-hyuk made his first league appearance of the season and kept the goal. Midfielder Kim Sung-jun provided strength in the midfield with his offensive coordination and tough play. Kim Ji-hyun was deployed up front alongside Lee In-gyu, creating chances and shooting fiercely, giving us hope for the future. Ataru and Jang Si-young also stepped up to the plate and improved their performances.

This is the third ACL tear since Hong Myung-bo took over as head coach. Ulsan reached the quarterfinals of the 2021 season, while the 2022 season ended in the group stage. They’ve faced Pum before. They won both group stage matches 2-0 on June 29 and July 11, 2021. The reigning K League champions will be looking to get a fresh start with a win at home.
