Saudi Arabia confirms hosting of 2027 Asian Cup ‘3rd Consecutive Middle East’

Saudi Arabia has been decided as the host country for the 2027 Asian Cup, where the countries belonging to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) determine the best team.

The AFC held its 33rd general meeting in Manama, Bahrain on the 1st (Korean time) and confirmed Saudi Arabia’s bid for the 2027 Asian Cup.

This is Saudi Arabia’s first Asian Cup. Saudi Arabia has won the Asian Cup three times since its foundation in 1956, but has yet to host it.

Saudi Arabia became the sole candidate and confirmed its bid to host the 2027 Asian Cup. Initially, Iran, Qatar, Uzbekistan, and India challenged for the Asian Cup, but did not make it to the finalists.

As a result, the Asian Cup will be held in the West Asian region for three consecutive tournaments, including UAE in 2019, Qatar in 2023, and Saudi Arabia in 2027.
