San Diego Padres outfielder Ha-Sung Kim extended his hitting streak to seven games with a home run.
Kim went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two doubles, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in a 10-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park on Sunday (Sept. 23).
San Diego, led by leadoff man Ha-Sung Kim, snapped a three-game losing streak and remained in fourth place in the NL West and seventh wild-card spot with a 36-39 record. During a seven-game hitting streak dating back to May 16 against the Cleveland Indians, Kim batted .251 (22-for-56). Six home runs, 22 RBI, 32 runs scored, 13 doubles, and an OPS of .719.
Batting leadoff for the fourth time this season, Kim drew a walk in the top of the first inning. After a full-count battle with San Francisco starter Alex Wood, he fouled off a six-pitch sinker. After moving to second on a Juan Soto single, Kim came home two batters later on Sanchez’s three-run homer to center.
In his second at-bat of the inning, he flied out to left field. Wood’s four-seam, 90-mph sinker was caught in left field.
Kim made it 6-0 with a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning. He pulled a 91.4-mph sinker from right-hander Jacob Junis on the body of his first pitch and sent it over the left-field fence like a bullet. It had a 31-degree launch angle, 100.7 mph, and traveled 381 feet.
Kim’s last home run was a solo shot to right-center field in the fifth inning of a road game against the Washington Nationals on May 25. It came a whopping 29 days after his last.
As Kim celebrated with his arms outstretched, Fernando Tatis Jr. was waiting for his next at-bat and was greeted with even more emotion. As he walked into the dugout, Machado clapped him on the shoulder and took a photo with him.

San Diego made it 6-0 on Sanchez’s homer in the first and Manny Machado’s triple in the third, then extended the lead to 10-0 in the fourth on Ha-Sung Kim’s solo shot, Jake Cronenwirth’s RBI single and Nelson Cruz’s two-run double in the fifth.
San Diego starter Blake Snell pitched six innings of three-hit, 11-strikeout ball to earn his fourth win of the season and lower his ERA to 3.22.
