The Twins’ first baseman’s nudge made even the opposing batboy laugh. LG’s Austin Dean showed off his spur-of-the-moment playfulness.
LG jumped out to a 5-3 lead in the first game of KIA’s three-game weekend series at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju on Sunday.
Austin, batting fourth in the lineup, led the offense with three hits, including a leadoff single and a two-RBI double, as LG avenged last month’s sweep behind 5.2 innings of one-run ball from starter Plutko.
Austin, who hit a leadoff solo home run in his first at-bat in the second inning, followed it up with a two-run double in the top of the third to make it 3-0.
Austin followed that up with a perfect game on defense in the bottom of the inning, turning a tricky grounder from Socrates into a double play to take a load off Plutko’s shoulders.
The play that made Batboy smile came in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Go Jong-wook, who led off the bottom of the sixth inning, hit a fastball from Plutko that broke his bat, causing him to fly out to second base. 토토사이트
Austin picked up a piece of the bat from the ground, and a batboy in a KIA uniform went over to him to retrieve it, which is when Austin’s playfulness kicked in.
With the piece of bat in hand, Austin made a threatening gesture of raising the sharp part of the bat high in the air and snapping it down, causing the batboy to burst out laughing at the sweet gesture.
For a team that has been struggling with foreign hitters, Austin has been the solution, rising to the top of every hitting category.
Along with his baseball skills, Austin’s positive and fun personality has made LG fans smile.
