’33-year-old A match debut → multi-goal’… Will Joselu, a prepared goalscorer, lead Spain’s front line?

There is no such thing as late autumn scenery.

Spanish La Liga Espanyol striker Joselu made his national team A-match debut at the age of 33 and even scored his debut goal, enjoying the best day.

Joselu played Alvaro in the 36th minute of the second half in the match against Norway in the first leg of Group A of the UEFA European Football Championship 2024 group stage held at La Rosaleda in Malaga, Spain on the 26th (Korean time). Instead of Morata, he was replaced by a forward striker and scored two goals in about 10 minutes.

He scored his A-match debut goal in the 39th minute of the second half by connecting a teammate’s left cross with a header, and a minute later, in a chaotic situation before the gate, he even burst a wedge with his left foot. Spain won 3-0 with Dani Olmo’s opening goal in the 13th minute.

The German-born Joselu made his professional debut with Celta Vigo in 2009 and rose to prominence through the Real Madrid second team. He also played for the Spain U-21 national team that year. He was once evaluated as a lumber to succeed Karim Benzema, but he did not grow as much as expected. After that, he went through several teams such as Hoffenheim ~ Hannover, and returned to the Spanish stage again in the summer of 2019 through Alaves. 안전놀이터

From Alaves, Joselu’s potential exploded. In the 2019-2020 season, he succeeded in scoring double-digit points (11 goals) in the first season of his debut, and also scored 11 league goals in the 2020-2021 season. In the 2021-2022 season, he moved his opponent to Espanyol all season, scoring 14 goals. At Espanyol, the true value is being displayed more. He has scored 12 goals in 23 appearances as of this season. Looking forward to breaking the record for the most goals in a single season of his career.

Joselu, who is 192 cm tall, is good at not only high-flying ability but also link play.

De la Puenta, the new coach of the national team, called Joselu, who is showing his worth in his 30s. Already, Spain has suffered from a striker absence in recent years. At last year’s World Cup in Qatar, I packed my bags in the round of 16, and finding a ‘reliable man’ at the forefront was my top priority.

Although Joselu made his A-match debut at a late age, it remains to be seen whether he will be reborn as the ‘Prince’ of coach La Puenta.
